We have a lot of summer in Phoenix Arizona so I’m big on summer staples! Shorts, sleeveless tops (tanks, strappy, racerbacks all included), swim suits, and casual dresses are all part of my summer wardrobe. That makes it easy for me to jump in on a Summer Staples blog tour with Winter Wear Designs!
The pattern was provided for this blog tour, but all opinions are my own. Thank you Suzanne!
It was difficult to choose a pattern this time around because I wanted something quick but not really a basic tank. I finally decided that the Traveler Tee with its woven front and knit back would be a quick project too. My fabrics are from my stash, with the woven beach scene being a vintage piece from the 80’s. Gasp! I did a bit of hacking to the pattern, changing the side piece to be shorter so more of my feature fabric could be seen. I also put binding on the neck edge, cut the cap sleeves even shorter so it’s more sleeveless, and hemmed the sleeve openings.
You can see the side cut out changes in this pic.
My top turned out summery and cute, and I’m very happy with it! Immediately after trying it on, I was wishing for matching blue or green Real Deal Jean shorts. Unfortunately, I don’t have either color in my stash and no time to shop. It will be a project for another day. In the mean time, I have on my Real Deal Jean shorts I sewed a couple of summers ago. This was my first go at sewing jeans. Not too bad! This pair gets worn all the time and are still going strong!
Check out the other bloggers on the tour this week to see other fun staples you need in your wardrobe!
