Welcome to the Sew Long Summer blog tour hosted by Mahlica Designs.
A nice group of sewing bloggers are going to share with you how we say “Sew Long Summer” and we’ll be asking you to join in with a Social Sew too (read on for details and prizes) Sew Long Summer is all about getting those transitional wardrobe pieces ready; finishing up all those things we meant to make this summer; and well, basically whatever Sew Long Summer means to you.
Originally, I’d planned to make a bomber jacket. I have a few patterns and haven’t sewn any of them yet. But, well, when it’s still 105 degrees and sunny outside, it’s hard to think of sewing a jacket. So, what I did sew is another Kathryn Top from Itch-to-Stitch. It’s been on my sewing list for a couple of years at least! Short sleeve tops get interspersed with the tanks during our warm fall weather.
Here it is in a burn-out knit I bought a couple years ago from SAS in Phoenix. I’m wearing it with rtw shorts here. Kathryn is pretty quick to sew and looks nicer than a regular t-shirt. I love the shape of it and wear the others I’ve made regularly.
The pleats are easy if you follow the directions. My top is lined with solid white since it’s see through. Lining for the top half is written into the directions. All of the patterns at Itch-to-Stitch have excellent instructions!
My jacket is from Itch-to-Stitch as well. This is the Salamanca that was part of my capsule wardrobe during a sew along. The top was supposed to get sewn at that time. Oops! Now my top is ready for cooler weather when I pair it with my jacket and some new Haute Skinny Pants that I made to go with a tunic recently and blogged about here. Read on to visit the other Sew Long Summer bloggers and see how to enter to win!
