Itch to Stitch Love Sewing with Friends

It’s so exciting to be on this ITS Love blog tour! I am thoroughly enjoying the sisterhood of seamstresses banding together in a continuing effort to help Kennis, the designer behind Itch-to-Stitch. I love everything from the planning, the sewing, the pictures, and the reading about so many wonderful patterns. I’m just not very good at the writing! Kennis is my own personal designer just in case some of you didn’t know… Don’t believe me? Weeellll, she would be if I had one, haha!

A few months ago, Melissa of Mahlica Designs and I decided to hold each other accountable by sewing our Lisbon Cardigans and Liana Jeans together. Both were patterns that had been on our sewing to do lists for a while and sewing together would be encouragement for both of us to finish. Well, it worked! It took a little while to have clear time on our calendars at the same time, but it was fun and successful. Mine just don’t go together, so you’ll see some other ITS patterns.

This Lisbon was planned a year ago to wear with a Bonn Shirt I made during testing. The plum colored pants I had planned to complete this outfit are still not sewn. 😳  I’m not liking the plum Lisbon and fuchsia North Point capris together. I’ll have to choose one or the other! I wrote about the the capris in this post. This is a super soft sweater knit with lots of drape and shiny gold threads running through it. You can see how the neckline is stretched low with such a lightweight sweater fabric. The sleeves were graded a bit wider on this Lisbon because I wanted to wear it over this Bonn shirt.

Next is a new Paulina made with a super soft striped ponte from Simply by Ti in my favorite color. It’s very dreamy to work with and wear. I can’t wait until it’s cool enough for long sleeves! The white woven polyester is from my stash. I’m wearing it with the Liana Jeans I finished recently during the sew along. If you’ve never made jeans, this is the pattern for you! Kennis is meticulous with directions and pictures to go along with them. So many ladies are getting wearable jeans right out of the envelope off the printer!

And look at the details! So professional looking, right? Kennis’ instructions are so easy to follow. I can install a zipper with my walking foot without a hitch!

This is my first Paulina since I just bought the pattern during the sale. I wasn’t sure I liked the style with the cutout and different fabric showing, but after seeing one that Crystal of Sewing Vortex made, I decided to try it. My hack is simply not doing the arm cutouts. So easy, and now I know I can make another Paulina and have a totally different look! I like how this one looks with just a “blouse” hanging out the bottom and will try the cutouts another time.

The Best thing about making jeans is that I get to embroider the back pockets! Yeessss!! Any excuse to use my embroidery machine! The designs are painted flower 1 and painted flower 4 from Urban Threads. There’s a bit of wrinkling on one pocket. I think the fabric got a tiny fold in it when I wasn’t looking.

The stretch twill is a great color but I honestly don’t remember where it came from. The whole outfit is very comfortable. I think my Paulina might even be long enough to wear with leggings. I’ll have to try it since I kind of look like a sloppy hippie! haha! Maybe it’s the faux Birks or maybe my awful hair! If only I had a personal hairdresser to care for the crazy mop on my head!

Look how different Paulina looks with just the blouse part tucked in! I like it!
